Sleepers

In sleep the mind is unconscious yet the body remains sentient. Unchecked in slumber our body language speaks of the working of our unconscious. For this reason to sleep with another person is an intimate act. The bed is the site of both sexual pleasure and rest. Despite the warm and tender feelings associated with sleeping with another person, each person enters unconsciousness alone. By changing context and by forcing the union of two disparate images I invite a narrative of romantic and sexual disconnection and tension. These diptychs measure 52 x 72 inches; the dimensions of a full size bed.
